FREE public dance workshops, films and performances

The day starts at 10.45am with Touch Compass performing on the Te Papa forecourt.

At 11am the official welcome on the Level 2 foyer will be followed by 10 workshops, with something for all ages and abilities, a mini festival of dance films, and a performance on the marae.

1.00 - 1.15 Performance interlude with Le Dance

1.15 - 2.00 Cuban Salsa with Rafael Ferrer

2.00 - 2.45 Scottish Ceilidh with Victoria University Folk Club

12.30 - 1.00 Musical Theatre with Talita Archibald

1.00 - 1.30 Zumba around the world with Ani Prasad

1.30 - 2.00 Tokelauan dance with Selina Alefosio

Soundings Theatre - Level 2

11.30 - 2.30 The Dance Reel - a collection of short dance films from top New Zealand choreographers. Celebrating NZ Dance week, in collaboration with Dance Aotearoa New Zealand.

Performance - Te Marae, 3 -4pm

Performance by 10 community groups including: Alien Junk Monsters, Caraka Seni (Indonesian), The Company NZ (Hip Hop), Danza MIA (South American), Filifest Dance Group (Filipino), Kerry School of Irish Dancing, Lavelua Crew (Tokelauan), New Zealand School of Dance (Contemporary), Salsa Magic, Tracey Odell School of Modern Dance (Jazz) , Touch Compass (Inclusive dance)
